Painter. He studied at the Repin Institute of arts in student K. Rudakov. A participant of the war. After the war he lived and worked in Leningrad. In 1932 Filaret Pakun he entered the Leningrad Academy of Arts. Among his teachers were such iconic artists as Nikolai Tyrsa, Konstantin Rudakov, Kuzma Petrov-Vodkin, Kazimir Malevich, Boris Fogel. However, the closest direction to Pacuna was impressionism. The artist went through the entire war, was twice wounded. In 1946 he became a member of the Union of Artists of the USSR.

Unfortunately "unprincipled art" was not encouraged "officialdom", and only after the lifting of the "iron curtain" came to Pakou real international fame. In Paris, London, Geneva, Rome, Tokyo, Germany, Belgium passed a sensational exhibition, accompanied by the enthusiastic responses of the press. Pakona called "the last impressionist of the XX century", "Russian Renoir", "Russian Monet." At international auctions the painting Filaret Pakun were sold at very high prices. So he became one of the most fashionable and expensive Russian artists abroad. In the 90-ies in Paris held several solo exhibitions Filaret Pakun, which has been acquired paintings by the then mayor of Paris, and now French President Jacques Chirac. A great connoisseur of Russian art, Jacques Chirac, in one of his interviews to the question: "Whom he considers the best artist of Russia?", without hesitation, answered, "Filaret Pakun – one of my favorite artists."
