German portrait painter, worked in Russia under Catherine II . Was listed as an assistant to a famous painter Luke Pfanzelt and repeatedly painted portraits of the persons of the Royal Family.

In 1769 was painted by a renowned coach of Catherine the great (located in the court the court of the stable Museum). The most famous portraits Buchholz: field Marshal count Munnich , Baron I. I., Wrangel, Baron A. Korf, Archbishop Steelman and others.
