Tanner Philip(Philippe Tanneur, 1795-1878) — French painter of seascapes. Received in 1835 from the Emperor Nicholas I commissioned to portray the most important Russian military ports, spent twenty years in Russia. At this time, his apprentice was Ivan Aivazovsky. Tanner was a prolific author, but his painting quickly deteriorated due to excessive use of artist paints.
