National Gallery of Canada holds an exhibition
"Rembrandt in Amsterdam: Creativity and Competition".
This is the first-ever exhibition reflecting key decades of the artist's career in the context of the Amsterdam art market. It is also the first major exhibition of Rembrandt in Canada since 1969 and the first to be presented at the National Gallery of Canada.
By interplaying the master's paintings, prints and drawings with the work of friends, followers and rivals, the exhibit reveals the synergy between the gifted artist and the stimulating environment that challenged and inspired him.
