Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO), Toronto presents blockbuster exhibition
"Andy Warhol.".
The exhibit includes works by pop art icons representing all four decades of his artistic career.
Andrew Warhol was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, in 1928. A shy, gay, working-class, Eastern European immigrant, Warhol had a unique understanding of American culture. Fascinating topical themes such as consumption, canonical art history, the artist's Catholic faith, and the activities of New York's countercultural underground are reflected in Warhol's numerous works, describing and fueling the intense cultural transformations taking place around the world in the second half of the twentieth century.
