may 27 at 17.00, the Primorsky Art Gallery invites you to the opening of the exhibition "Vladimir Snytko. Zeus palette", timed to the 90th anniversary of the artist. About 50 works from the collection of the Primorsky Picture Gallery and the artist's studio will introduce the viewer to all the major stages of work of Vladimir Snytko - the master of fine arts of Primorsky region, honored artist of the Russian Federation, a member of the Union of Artists of Russia. The viewers will see a pictorial chronicle of Shikotan, the Far North, BAM and the Golden Ring of Russia.

"I can't be without work. The artist must work until the end of his life" (V.A. Snitko). Vladimir Antonovich devoted all his life to painting, wrote hundreds of paintings: landscapes, portraits, genre compositions. When he was a student of the Vladivostok Art College classmates nicknamed him Zeus for being the strongest in the class. This nickname stuck with him through the years of study at the Far Eastern Art Pedagogical Institute and has remained with him to this day. For more than half a century Vladimir Antonovich has been regularly confirming that it is not just a momentary compliment.

Each trip for Vladimir Snytko, in fact, was a fascinating creative adventure, which resulted in the emergence of new unique works. For five years, since 1968, the artist, together with his colleague Ivan Ionchenkov, developed the theme of the Far North. Friends-artists spent 5-6 months in Chukotka and Kamchatka. And this theme became significant in the annals of the seaside art. The fact that the author's picturesque world is devoid of dull naturalism, protocol enumeration of details and elements, any hint of conventional pathos or souvenir open texture is also valuable.

As a member of the famous "Shikotan group" the artist also worked on the islands of the Kuril Ridge. The energy of the Pacific Ocean, the unique island nature, the strong beautiful people - all contributed to the creative atmosphere of high intensity, which is depicted in the works of the "Shikotan" cycle.

Vladimir Snytko was one of the first to depict the beginning of the "construction of the century. His canvases became a kind of artistic chronicle of BAM: in the mid-1970s the artist collected extensive sketch material, which formed the basis of the works devoted to the most famous postwar Soviet construction site. In the second half of the 1980s the artist was developing the theme of Orthodoxy in Russia, and in 1991 he presented to the judgment of the audience a large-scale exhibition "Cathedrals of Russia," which included more than 80 works.
