Pupil of the Moscow school of painting and sculpture. In 1856-2 silver medal from the Academy of Arts in 1857, the title of a free artist. Attended classes at the Academy of fine Arts. In 1864 the title of class artist of the 3rd degree for the painting "Marguerite in the Cathedral"; in 1867-academician of historical painting for the painting "Scene from the family life of a musician of the seventeenth century."
