He was born 22 Feb 1917 in Petrograd.
In 1949 Rostislav Vovkushevsky graduated from the Repin Institute of arts in the name of I. E. Repin, the workshop of Victor Oreshnikov.
He studied of Pavel Shillingovsky, Ivan Bilibin, Konstantin Rudakov, Leonid Ovsyannikov.
Participant of exhibitions since 1949.
Member of the Leningrad Union of artists since 1949.
Wrote still lifes, portraits, landscapes, genre scenes, worked as easel and monumental painting.
Personal exhibition in St. Petersburg (1995).
