People's artist of RSFSR, people's artist of the Komi ASSR, laureate of the State prize of the Komi ASSR. 1970 – Chairman of the Board of the Union of artists of the Republic of Komi.

Studied at art school of Syktyvkar, then at the graphic Department of the Leningrad pedagogical College(1947-1951).

From 1954 to 1960 he studied at the painting faculty of the Institute of painting, sculpture and architecture. Repin A. Mylnikov , B. Ugarov and V. Oreshnikov. In 1960 he moved to the Komi Republic.

Since 1957, painted for the satirical magazine "Tuscani" in Syktyvkar. The author of the paintings in a realistic manner on themes from the life of the North ("Ust-Tsilma cycle").

The Central painting of the cycle was awarded the diploma of the USSR Academy of arts in 1975 Participant of exhibitions since 1957 Ermolina Works were exhibited at international exhibitions in Germany (1962, 1972), Poland (1971), Czechoslovakia, Romania, Mongolia (1972), Japan (1973), Bulgaria (1978) .

Personal exhibitions of the artist took place in Syktyvkar (1977, 1985), Moscow (1976) and Lovech (Bulgaria, 1984).

Works By R. N. Ermolina are in the Museum of the Academy of arts in St. Petersburg, at the state art Museum of the Komi ASSR and other museums.
