Padalka), the Director of Mezhigorskaya art College (later the Kiev art Institute) - the famous school of design, whose name is put next to the Bauhaus and VKhUTEMAS. His fate was tragic. A talented young artist, organizer and well-known public figure, which is accepted to the Moscow architectural and artistic circles, was personally acquainted with D. Arcanum, K. Yuen, M. Ginzburg, Diego de Rivera (the world-famous Mexican school of monumental painting), Bohemia. Of course, a member of the party. How much would he still be able to do and what to achieve, not oborval egos of life in 37 years... the Wave of repressions of 1937-1939 in the Ukraine was especially terrible... he has no grave, he did not have time to raise my children. All of his monumental works in Kiev, Kharkov and Odessa destroyed. There are only imperfect reproductions and a small collection of easel painting and drawing, which is stored in the National art Museum of Ukraine in Kiev (former Museum of Ukrainian art).

Basil Sadler is the author of portrait - one of the most talented students of M. Boychuk - artist-innovator, the founder of Ukrainian national school of monumental painting of the early XX century. A graduate of the Kiev Institute of plastic arts (now the Academy of fine arts) and later on his teacher as his master, defended the idea of the unity of the plastic arts - I studied and mastered various techniques, worked in monumental and easel painting, easel and book graphics, applied and decorative arts. V. sedlar together with other students of M. Boychuk, O. Pavlenko, I. Padalka - revived the ceramic production in Ukraine and he used it as the basis of artistic ceramic College and technological Institute of glass and ceramics. In decorative sculpture, hand-painted dishes embodied the idea of national revival style, which had been based on nationality. The same idea permeated was a monumental work created M. Boychuk and his followers, where generalized images show scenes from rural life, struggle for freedom, sung by the eternal human values. Painting decorated motels, barracks, houses of culture, theaters. Simplicity of composition, high skill, based on the classic patterns of the past, was understood and evoked in the viewer a deep sympathy.

But the party and administrative elite demanded of the masters an entirely different approach to solving artistic problems. Gradually all searches and innovation were replaced by the same style that required a false image of heroic pathos in all General rejoicing, the image of the "happy crowd" - under the General name "people".

Fell on hard times. The artists were denied opportunities to realize their talent. Official criticism began to accuse them of adherence to the peasant and the national idea. And in 1937, M. Boychuk, V. Sadler and I. Padalka was arrested, accused of "ideological sabotage", which was equivalent to a political crime, and executed as "enemies of the people".
