Erarta Museum of Contemporary Art invites you to visit the exhibition
"Alexander Kosenkov. Sun, Sea, Icebreaker".
The exhibition includes works by Alexander Kosenkov (1959-2021) of recent years, some of which are exhibited for the first time.
Alexander Kosenkov (1959-2021) is an unusual artist for St. Petersburg. His works paradoxically combine humor and imagery, his paintings are characterized by decorativeness, vitality, an increased degree of color - as if they were painted under the Mediterranean sun. Some of them have been inspired by Italy, Greece, Spain, France, Montenegro, while others reflect the gray St. Petersburg winter. But the main thing here is not the external circumstances - it's all about the peculiarities of the "inner light. For Alexander Kosenkov creativity is the Hemingway's "holiday that is always with you". Both in everyday motifs and in fetishes of world culture and tourist industry - whatever theme the artist takes up, interpreting it, he finds that "life-giving nonsense", play of meanings and rhythms, that dramaturgy of color which distinguishes his works from postcard interior paintings. Alexander Kosenkov's creative path was unexpectedly interrupted by a coronavirus infection.
