Serpukhov Historical and Art Museum holds an exhibition "Image and Meaning. Seventeenth-Century Dutch Paintings from Museums and Private Collections in Russia".

Visitors will see 80 works by Dutch masters of the "golden" XVII century from 11 museums and 4 private collections of Russia.

the nine halls of the Serpukhov Museum reveal the life and character of this country through the main genres, the system of which was formed by Dutch masters of the 17th century: still life, portrait, marine and national landscapes, battle genre, life and city life, historical painting, represented by artists of Rembrandt's circle, his contemporaries. Each hall reveals a certain theme, and their sequence creates a route that takes visitors on a tour of Holland without leaving the Moscow region: they arrive by ship, dock at the misty shores, enjoy authentic views, explore the cities and their surroundings, visit the homes of the locals, meet them and learn their stories... The space provides multimedia-interactive equipment that will help not only to see Holland, but also to feel it: how it sounds, what it smells and what it feels like to touch.
