Erarta Museum of Contemporary Art presents an exhibition by an American multidisciplinary artist
"Porkchop. La Catedral"- an immersion in the post-apocalyptic world of a fictional quasi-religion.
The concept of the exhibition is based on the study of the ancient Aztec civilization and the reflection of their rituals in the modern traditions of the inhabitants of Mexico. The exhibition space has been transformed into a cult-like structure and resembles a grand basilica. The focal point of the exhibition project is a series of large-scale sculptures. In addition to sculpture, the artist works in other techniques and forms, creating paintings, illustrations and texts with equal ease. Not belonging to any particular artistic movement, he combines different kinds of art in his work in an original way. In particular, the author's interest in murals and monumental graffiti can be easily traced in this exhibition: the remarkable size of the works, as well as the active use of three contrasting colors - gold, black and white - speak for it.
Porkchop was born in New Jersey (USA) in 1970. He works in a variety of techniques, from painting and sculpture to graffiti and murals. The legendary artist's work has been featured in numerous exhibitions in Europe and published in art albums, including The Greatest Erotic Art of Today, Eye Candy, and I Want Your Skull. In addition to solo exhibitions at Parlor Gallery and Sansa Art in the United States, Porkchop has exhibited in group shows in the United States and abroad. This exhibition is the author's first solo museum exhibition on this scale.
