Pictorial Threads" exhibition

展览 28 六月 − 17 七月 2022
Since June 28, Primorsky State Art Gallery presents the exhibition "Pictorial Threads. Tapestries by Sergey Simakov. From new arrivals.

Sergey Vasilyevich Simakov is a seaside artist, a member of the Art Association "Stil". Simakov never dreamed of becoming a painter, but he has been drawing since childhood. "I made my first drawings on a freshly painted floor, dipping a brush in a jar of water..." - the author wrote about his early artistic experiments. Sergei Vasilievich graduated from the Vladivostok Art College, enthusiastically tried his hand at various techniques, both painting and drawing. He did not ignore the technique of creating tapestries. The exhibition presents three works, perfectly made in the technique of hand weaving a tapestry of wool. The dyeing was done by hand and the reverse side has no knots, which speaks of the high professionalism of the creator. Simakov based his two tapestries on his works of the same name, "Gloria" and "Grandma U," created in the 1990s. This period was marked by the artist's interest in mystical and sacred symbols, as well as the creation of numerous references in his works to the mythology of other countries.

The exhibition runs through July 17, 2022.
