Subtle Artists About the East Travelers' accounts of Oriental wanderings have inspired a gathering of contemporary artists to see what the Orient is like and what its impact on the modern world is as they see it. The concept of the Orient is broad both geographically - defined from the countries of North Africa, through Asian countries, to the Japanese Islands - and culturally and historically. The composition of the exhibition shows the diversity of themes chosen by the authors. Someone lived directly in the eastern territories and explored the topic from the inside, someone traveled, someone was impressed by literature and art. Our country is multinational and there has always been an interest in both the Middle East and the Far East. In the 16th century merchants brought tea, porcelain and fabrics, in the 19th and early 20th centuries there was a fashion for clothing (turbans and shalwaras, kimonos and fans), jewelry and interior styling (carpets, ottomans) in the style of Orientalism, which led to a more ethnographic approach in the study of Oriental culture. What is currently on trend is not so much accessories as philosophy and Eastern spiritual practices. Contemplation, slowing down, controlling thoughts, learning about one's own nature are what those who adhere to Zen Buddhism strive for. The influence of Eastern culture on European art is widely known and the theme of "dialog of cultures" is complex and multifaceted. In the proposed exhibition, artists often move away from direct associations and templates that usually arise at the word "East", exploring this problem based on their personal experience and inviting viewers to reflect on the theme of the Eastern world of the early 21st century together with them.
