Was born in Tashkent. Lives and works in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. He studied at the Tashkent art school (1937-1941). In 1953 he graduated from the Institute of painting, sculpture and architecture. I. E. Repin in the Studio of V. M. Oreshnikov.

State prize of the Uzbek SSR im. Hamza 1967 for a series of portraits of his contemporaries. Silver medal of the USSR art Academy in 1974 for his portrait of people's artist of USSR, U. tansykbayev (1970).

Among the main works: "Woman of Kashkadarya" (1959), "Morning. Motherhood" (1962), "Early spring" (1973), a series of landscapes of Uzbekistan (1988), a portrait of the participant of the great Patriotic war Merganova (1984), portrait of a war veteran Hikmet Rakhmanov (1984), male portrait (1984), a portrait of people's artist of the USSR Tamara Khanum (1984-1985), "the Landscape" (1985), "Gifts of summer" (1986).

Corresponding member AH the USSR (1975). People's artist of USSR (1981) and Uzbek SSR (1961). Professor (1976). Chairman of the Union of the Uzbek SSR (1965-1985). Deputy of the Supreme Soviet of the Uzbek SSR (1967-1971). In 1979-1991 he was the head of the creative workshop of painting USSR Academy of Tashkent.
