In 1930 he graduated from the VKHUTEMAS, graphic faculty. He studied under L. A. Bruni, N. N. Kupriyanov. In 1925-1930 he studied in the Studio of V. A. Favorsky at the book-xilografia office.
In 1932 joined the Union of artists of the USSR. He began to participate in exhibitions. From 1929 to 1941 he worked in publishing houses "Young guard", "Peasant newspaper", "Moscow", "Detgiz".
In 1941-1945 — the great Patriotic war.
