Fedorovich Fedorovsky

Born in Chernigov. In 1902 – 1907 he studied at the Stroganov Central school of industrial art (1905 – 1907 – his teacher). Worked in Opera S. Zimin in Moscow, issued a number of the submissions to the repertory of Sergei Diaghilev in Paris and London (1912 – 1913). From 1921 he worked at the Bolshoi theatre in Moscow. Full member AH the USSR since 1947, people's artist of the USSR since 1951.

People's artist of the USSR. Member of the Academy of arts of the USSR. 1947 Vice-President of the Academy of Arts. Five-time winner of the Stalin prize. The main artist of the state Academic Bolshoi theatre (1921-1953). In 1907 he graduated with a gold medal of the decorative Department of the Stroganov art school. He studied with K. A. Korovin, M. A. Vrubel. He worked in the private Opera theatre of S. Zimin, won the competition to design the scenery for Bizet's Opera "Carmen" in the theater. Won first prize for designs for the Opera "Sadko". By order of Diaghilev created the scenery for the Opera by M. Musorgsky "Khovanshchina," which was shown in Paris on the stage of the Grand Opera house. Decorations for the Opera "Boris Godunov", "Emelyan Pugachev", "Prince Igor", "the Quiet don". Was awarded top prizes at international exhibitions of decorative arts in Paris (1927), Milan (1937), Brussels (1958). Professor of the workshop of theatrical-decorative Department Vhuteina. The author of the sketches of the stars on the towers of the Moscow Kremlin and the curtain of the Bolshoi theatre.

Works of the artist are in the Tretyakov gallery, the Museum of the Bolshoi theater, the State Central Museum of musical culture im. M. I. Glinka in Moscow.
