Grigory
Petrovich Aharonyan

Russia • 1896−1980

Member of the Union of artists of the USSR.

Born February 24, 1896 in the town of Shusha in Nagorno-Karabakh in the family of master engraver on precious metals. At the end of the St. Petersburg Academy of arts went to France, where he trained in the workshop of the famous Armenian sculptor Hakob Gyurjyan. Further work of the sculptor was connected with Bulgaria (Sofia). Repatriated to Armenia in 1946. Aharonyan created a gallery of sculptures of the major figures in cultural and political thought (V. Lenin, G. Dimitrov, D. Demircan, Paramaz, A. Myasnikyan, A. Pushkin, A. Chekhov, etc.). Head of the sculpture Department of Yerevan fine arts and theatre Institute.
