Valeriy Grachov was born in Arkhangelsk in 1949, where he spent his childhood. At this time he started a lot of serious drawing. I went to school in Leningrad (now St. Petersburg) in 1956, and then together with parents lived in Dnipropetrovsk and graduated from high school in 1966 in Kiev, where in the same year he entered the architectural faculty of the center. Studying architecture, also deeply studied the history of art, played the guitar and was professionally engaged in painting and sculpture.
Graduated from the architectural faculty in 1972. During training in postgraduate study Kyivzniiep together with architectural and design activities, much time was also devoted and painting. At that time, finally formed the desire to do only painting, but architecture and design remain as professional applications. In 1974. went on a serious journey in the Hissar mountains in Tajikistan, which became his second homeland. All that was passed and is seen in the Pamir mountains and the Tien Shan was transformed into a painting. Traveled a lot - sometimes several trips per year, sometimes alone, gradually learning more and more new mountain of the former Soviet Union. At this time I began a serious study of philosophical and religious schools of India and China, traveling farther and farther to the East. He lived and painted in Central Asia, on the lake, on the Islands of the sea of Japan.
Has worked hard and enthusiastically, periodically arranging personal exhibitions in Kiev. In 1988 he lived and worked in the city Jyvaskyla (Finland), in 1989-1990 in the city of Trenton (new Jersey, USA), and in 1974-1975 lived and worked in Prague, where he also made two solo exhibitions. She currently lives and works in Kiev, praising his surroundings and often travels with his friends in the mountains of Crimea.
The art style Grachev emerged as a synthesis of Russian romantic realism and Chinese medieval painting of the Renaissance.
