Georg Baselitz. Retrospective

Ausstellung 20 Oktober 2021 − 7 März 2022
The Georges Pompidou National Centre for Arts and Culture presents a retrospective exhibition of the German neo-expressionist painter, founder of the "New Wild" style, one of the most cherished living artists, Georg Baselitz.

The exhibition combines masterpieces created over the last six decades of creativity, arranged in chronological order, from the first works of the 1960s and manifesto Pandemonium, a cycle of paintings turned upside down in 1969, to the nostalgic traditional painting techniques of the XXI century.

Georg Baselitz's work defies categorization and oscillates between figurative painting, abstraction and conceptualism. He has rightly earned a reputation as a revolutionary artist who successfully captures the viewer's attention with his works, awakening them to deep reflection. The subjects of the paintings recede into the background, seeming less important than the visual perception of the work.
