Two paintings by Giacomo Ceruti of Brescia. Agnolo Bronzino: Allegorical Portrait of Dante

The State Hermitage Museum invites you to visit the exhibitions "Two paintings by Giacomo Ceruti of Brescia" и "Agnolo Bronzino. Allegorical Portrait of Dante".
Visitors will see masterpieces of the representative of "Italian realism" of the beginning of the XVIII century Giacomo Ceruti and "Allegorical portrait of Dante Alighieri" by the Florentine painter Agnolo Bronzino, as well as the printed edition of the Divine Comedy of Dante, published in Venice in 1578.
Giacomo Ceruti was nicknamed "The Little Pauper" (il Pitocchetto) by his countrymen. Depicting a man from the lowest strata of society, the artist showed different sides of the deprived, full of hardships life of ordinary people. Agnolo Bronzino (Agnolo di Cosimo di Mariano, 1503-1572) was an important Florentine painter. In the early 1530s he came to prominence as a poet and painter. His works gave a special status to the Florentine court portrait, a type which then spread throughout Europe.
