Description of the artwork «"DEDICATION TO THE DAL"»
The fact that this picture was painted under the impression of Salvador Dali's work is easy to guess by the "flowing clock". It is them and the famous mustache - the very attributes by which many people recognize the Spanish painter. In the distant 80s, when Alexander Karavaev had his first Dali album, one could read about the surrealist known in the West only in exposé articles about the art of capitalist countries.
Dali's albums were banned. But things change in the world. That's what Dali's "floating" clock symbolizes. What we go through now, we often perceive differently in the future. And the future itself turns out to be completely different from what we imagined it to be. The attitude towards surrealism has also changed. Salvador Dali's work is no longer forbidden, it began to talk about it as a phenomenon of an outstanding master of his fans, adherents and even recent detractors. Most artists have written at least a few works in a similar manner. Alexander Karavaev also did not stay away from surrealistic experiments. "Dedication to S. Dali" is a vivid confirmation of this. Like the Spaniard's popular painting "The Permanence of Memory", Alexander's painting symbolizes the past, present and future. While on the light sheet are ripe strawberries, but the bed has already been touched by the shadow of time. In the headboard of the bed there is a huge cross - a bridge on which souls ascend to God. The painting is made in the classical technique of oil painting based on the multilayer application of thin translucent paints on each other, which allows to achieve a beautiful, bright color scheme with an unusual effect of three-dimensional volume.
"Dedication to S. Dali" is a one-of-a-kind original oil painting.
