Ivan Akimovich, sculptor and academician mosaic; born in 1840; studied in the Academy of Arts in the Department of historical and portrait painting. From the works of Ivan Akimovich issued: mosaic image of "carrying the cross", the figures of Pilate and in the form of "Behold the man".

Born the son of a sculptor, studied at the Academy of fine arts. Received medals: in 1861 - 2 silver; in 1863 - 2 silver and a certificate for the title of free artist of historical and portrait painting.

In 1868 he received the title of class artist of 3 degrees in sculpture; in 1873 the title of class artist of 2nd degree, mosaic work", the Head of the Savior"; in 1874 - the title of class artist of 1 degree mosaic; in 1878, the title of academician of the puzzle.

In the Mosaic Department worked from 1866 to 1896, he participated in the creation of mosaics of St. Isaac's Cathedral "the last supper", "St. Michael", "Christ carrying the cross", "Behold the man", "Luke the Evangelist" and "Evangelist".
