Vladimir Isaakovich Ehrlich belongs to that generation of Soviet artists whose work was formed in the difficult postwar years. Artistic bent it started early, and over time, strengthened a strong desire to devote his life to art. But the war interrupted his studies, and in 1946 V. Ehrlich goes to Dnipropetrovsk art College. His first teachers and mentors have become well-known artists N. S. Pogrebnyak and M. N. Panin, who raised a large galaxy of great masters of the Ukrainian Soviet art.
From the first days in the walls of the school V. Ehrlich works hard, as if making up for lost years, and as a result, while still a third-year student, becomes a member of the regional exhibition of professional artists. Already decided his preferences in painting. Each artist in the work chooses its own genre. For V. er-down and out in this genre was the portrait. In the period, when he formed his identity when gradually accumulated picturesque experience, he addressed to different genres. But over time, increasingly manifested in the desire to delve into the inner spiritual world of man, and he comes to the serious study of portraiture, to innovative search in this genre.
Real solo exhibition for the 60th anniversary of V. Ehrlich reveals to us more than thirty-year career of the artist whose talent has always been drawn to people. The exhibition presents almost all the genres of painting: portrait, thematic painting, landscape, still life. A small section of graphics, which exhibited etchings, drawings with ink, pencil, sanguine and watercolor to complement the creative monologue of the artist.
Member of regional, Republican and all-Union exhibitions, V. Ehrlich in the exposition of the exhibition stands before the audience of a Mature master, who art always remained faithful to the traditions of Soviet realist art. His early works reflect trends in the Soviet painting 50-ies. ("Gal." 1954, "Father Ostap". 1954, "On the bench". 1959). However, the narrative narrative soon gives way to a certain generalization, although her presence is still felt in certain works of the following decades. And at the same time blooming of his talent as a portrait painter.
During his life V. Ehrlich wrote hundreds of portraits and representative of the lyrical, romantic and chamber. Many of them were included in the exhibition, and it should be noted that all ONTs are combined great respect of the artist to his models, as the main character of his portraits — the working man.
Not once had V. Erlich own individual painting style. His first portraits and genre akin to estimates, in which he has not yet committed to a deep analysis of internal image construction. For him at this stage is more important than the rhythm of the composition, expressive color solutions. However, the persistent work with nature, genuine interest in the model over time, bringing him beyond addressing purely formal tasks. And working with nature the artist feels the main, mandatory daily business. It almost does not catch in the workshop. It often happens in factories, on the collective farm field and the farm. And he is always looking for interesting nature, seeking wholeness of perception of the model. His portraits, then finished in the quiet of the Studio, without losing the freshness of first impressions. The creative thinking of the artist is constantly evolving, making his portraits acquired a large depth of penetration. He feels his model, sharp portrait reports •similarity. And always the master emphasizes what unites all Soviet people — a high sense of the dignity of the working man. Different compositional and figurative reading, portraits of V. Ehrlich always carry the inner relation of author to model.
In his work, the artist prefers a situational portrait. Most of all, his model is in the environment, which in itself becomes an additional aspect of characteristics. Often in portraits of the time he pursues the solution to a similar compositional and color problems in different ways. An example is a series of portraits of plasterers and builders, in which he emphasizes unity of command and the beauty of the soul of women doing this hard work.
In recent years, the artist seeks to create a portrait image-type in which the inner content is the wide generalization of the best traits of the Soviet man. These are portraits of "Knitter", "Metallica", "Spinner", "Installers" and many others, in the name of the documentary which gives way to collectivity. We should also mention certain changes to the style of painting of the artist. If his early work is based on the color of the illusory nature, the last of his works, the color becomes more ornamental, generic sound.
In his work V. Ehrlich often drawn to historical themes. He rightly believes that a profound understanding of modernity is unthinkable without the memory of the heroic past of our people. The exhibition shows large themed fabric "delegates to the Communist international", "V. Babushkin among the workers of Ekaterinoslav." Interesting historical portrait "by I. V. Babushkin". There are no direct impressions that the artist gets from a live model. The romantic-heroic reading of the image comes, of course, from the knowledge of the role of personality I. V. Babushkin in the achievements of the revolution. The artist creates a comprehensive manner, emphasizes the brilliance of the mind, nobility of soul and an inspired impulse. The image of the ardent revolutionary in this portrait becomes a timeless sound. Historical can be called the portraits of those who with weapons in hands defended their homeland in the difficult years of the great Patriotic war. Heroes Of The Soviet Union A. N. In the suckers, and M. E. Kolosov — our contemporaries, but the artist seeks a particular human fate to tell about courage of his people, his strength of spirit and heroism.
The lyrical side of talent V. er-dashing brightly in numerous governmental landscapes. A true artist cannot be indifferent to the beauty of nature, and the author of the exhibition — is no exception. He likes to write the Dnieper river in the different time of day and time of year. Poetic images of the mighty river and adolescence bribed sincerity and mastery of the technique of tonal painting. Refinement of coloristic solutions are landscapes of Sednev in which the artist captures the subtle nuances of the transition States of the awakening of nature in spring.
