Biography and information

(1904. 10. VII Ventspils – 1993. 12. III Talsi)

Born in the family of a joiner-carpenter. Cousin Karlis Sonings artist.

Studied in courses Tallinska Folk high school, the first teacher was Karlis, Sprunk. He graduated from the Latvian Art Academy of Figurative art Studio in the City of Elias (1931) with thesis "the Idyll" ("Family idyll artist"). In the Latvian Art academies he mainly studied with J. F. Tillberga.In exhibitions uchastvovat from 1925. 1929.- 1935. participated in vystavkah society "Radigars". 1936.-1939. worked in the Latvian society of fine art, and 1939. year at the society of artists "Rosme".Member of the Union of artists since 1945.

Personal exhibitions: in Talsi, Riga (1973, 1977, 1979, 1981, 1989), in Ventspils (1974, 1979), In Valdemarpils (1977 Pestana exposition, 1986), Kuldiga (1980) and others...

Riga during his studies he was the executor of the scenery, worked in applied graphics. In Tulsa he worked as a decorator, designer, led the art Studio, lectured about art. The popular painting "the Death of Colonel Kalpak" (1934). Painted figurative compositions and landscapes, the everyday lyrical motifs as well as portraits.

At the beginning of the creativity you can feel the influence of J. F. Tillberga in the late 30-ies began to write the forms of freer and softer. 60 that wrote in the technique aquarelle and oil Talsinsky region. He worked in the monumental painting: the building of the parish Valgales painted six paintings, where reflection soutesky the image of the nation (1934), in Tallinska leprozorij the Church altar painting "Christ healing the sick" (1939).

Awarded Kulturkapital Fund for the painting "Little writer" (or "Agra says" 1938).
