Studied -40 1934 and 1943 at the art school "Pallas" in Tartu painting and drawing under the guidance of N. Tryka, K. Limanda and A. Vardy. From 1944 he lived in Sweden, was one of the most prominent Estonian abroad. Especially in the 1950 – 60s attracted expressive, approaching abstraction style – a kind of parallel here of the "severe style". Worked in the field of painting.
