Sh Filiga was born into a wealthy family, his father owned a paper mill. In 1886 sh Filiu goes to study in Paris at the art Academie colarossi. In 1889 and in 1890 exhibited his works at the Salon of independents. The artist belonged to the school of Pont-Aven and was under the creative influence of artists such as Paul Gauguin and Paul ceruse.
In his works sh Filiga often used religious and mythological motifs (e.g., "Christ with angels (1892)" and was close to the works of Maurice Denis.
