Galina Silvestrovna Sevruk (May 18, 1929, Samarkand, Uzbek SSR, USSR - February 13, 2022, Kiev, Ukraine) - Soviet and Ukrainian artist, ceramicist-monumentalist. She worked both in mosaics and graphics. Honored Artist of Ukraine (2005).
Galina Sevruk was born May 18, 1929 in Samarkand in the family of architect Sylvester Sevruk and his wife Irina, and later they moved to the Ukrainian SSR. From 1930 she lived in Kharkov, where she was under occupation, and in 1944 her family moved to Kiev. She graduated from the Kiev Shevchenko High School, and in 1959 she graduated from the Kiev Art Institute, Department of Painting[4].
In 1968 she was expelled from the Union of Artists of Ukraine for signing the "protest letter 139" in defense of the repressed, and was subsequently reinstated in the Union of Artists of Ukraine.
She died on February 13, 2022, in Kiev.
