Description of the artwork «Apotheosis of Saint Ursula»

In 1976, the young artist visited the House of Books, which to this day is located on the new Arbat in Moscow. His gaze appeared illustrated book of the Venetian artist Vittore Carpaccio. On its cover was depicted a young, with a thoughtful look of the lady with curls. It turns out later that she "will come off the cover of the work of the great maestro" and will be the companion of the artist throughout his life. The young man then did not understand why this book attracted his attention, but intuitively felt that it must be taken. The artist laid out for this miracle all his scholarship. Then he studied at the Moscow Aviation Instrument Engineering College. Sergo Ordzhonikidze, who was located on the Haymarket Square near the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In the 90s the college burned down, and in its place "have established" Raiffeisen Bank - a symbol of capitalism. After the technical school, having undergone all the hardships and deprivation of military service in the space forces in the city of Yakutsk, the senior operator of the PPSEV station, the artist returns to Moscow. Just at this time here are the Olympic Games. He successfully passes the exams and enters the Moscow State Technical University named after Bauman for the Instrument Engineering Faculty, a computer department. Then the artist is visited by an obsession "finish the journey" Venetian artist Vittore Carpaccio in the work "Apotheosis of Saint Ursula". At the beginning, graphic works were carried out quickly, but life made its own adjustments: work, study, family and everyday life hampered the creative process. But the artist always approached the work on the work in a cheerful state of mind and transferred all its powerful energy to the canvas. This was achieved by painstaking work, from 20 to 30 layers and shades of paint were superimposed on each face. It seemed that the whole marathon would never end, but the children gave strength to the artist. Friends and girlfriends of his only daughter who came to visit her. At first they were stunned by surprise when their eyes stopped in the picture, and then they looked at it with admiration. Well, as it should be in such cases, the artist did not forget to perpetuate himself in this work. If the viewer directs his gaze to the left column of the arch, he will see Carpaccio’s face above the crowd, and from the right column of the arch, but just below, the viewer will see the young face of the artist. The work used a synthesis of genres: the landscape of the near and far plan, still life in the form of palm branches, arch architecture, bright dresses of the stage participants, portraits of more than a hundred faces, Ursula herself and the angels surrounding her from all sides, and God the Father hovering over Ursula with arms outstretched and guarded. In a mystical way, it turned out that the artist had traveled Vittore Carpaccio for the same 19 years. And if you ask him: "How much can this work cost?"- the answer of the artist will be brief and concise: "Painting cost in life". The picture has a powerful energy charge, like a naked icon for centuries. When the artist visited Venice and examined the painting by Vittore Carpaccio, he realized that it required restoration. But it seems that the museum does not have such money, and what a madman will restore this work, if the maestro himself spent the whole 19 years on it.
