Description of the artwork «The lady in purple»

Her name is unknown, this model brought to the workshop co-student Feshin Petr Buchkin. And, as planned, did with her sketch. Sheepishly joined him at his easel Nicholas Feshin did not assume that this will be its software, a Manifesto for his approach to the portrait.

Fechin painting is located at the intersection of various currents. Sometimes for simplicity referred to modernism, although this is a simplification. For Fechin-portrait is extremely important the personality of a model of personality, and in this it differs from the Impressionists, still studying at Repin was not in vain. But no literary we have Feshin not find, it is not a biography, it captured a moment (impressionism around is also not possible). Before us is a thrilling game purple shades, and at the same time in front of us – it is this particular woman. She is dignified, smart and elegant, powerfully attract the eye dignified posture, slim profile, slightly messy hair, graceful hands resting on the back of the chair, thin fingers. Personality is perceived as a sign of the era, her image, but in any case not as a specific "national type" in what he was Repin. At the same Feshina typical typological replaced, and instead of the biography of the character before us and their characteristics.

From Fechin isometric drawing and color, moreover, the ability to draw color – feature. Profile girls flexibly defined, the curve of the hand-written broad brush, which creates a sense of movement, liveliness. Figure inherent special grace. The contrast of smooth skin and the violence of multidirectional brushstrokes of the dress and the background give the image fascination, a girl as if carved in color, serene, frozen in swaying, a moving space. The impression created by the somewhat chaotic, agitated brush strokes and expression techniques of blending colors create subtle contrast-matching with restraint of colors, matte colors. A color scale is very modest: dress light purple, silvery, white scarf, and cool freshness of the slightly swarthy face and soft brown hair.

At the International exhibition in Munich, the film won the Gold medal. She started the Fechin abroad, actually. After the "Ladies in purple" his works became permanent exhibits of the international exhibitions.
