"Pink period" brings the first success of Picasso: the artist's patrons appear – Madame Gertrude Stein and her brother Leo. They buy the paintings of the young Spaniard and get them acquainted with the Parisian Bohemian artists and writers. Picasso often visits the circus Medrano near Montmartre, where he lives. Here he finds the characters of his paintings - acrobats, clowns, comedians, his palette becomes more cheerful pink, orange, pearl grey color are replacing sad blue tones. Many attribute the change in his work with his first love – in 1904, his Muse and companion becomes the model fernande Olivier.
