Graphic artist, caricaturist, publishing figure. Graduated from Kharkiv art. Uch-school (1899), and later studied in St. Petersburg. OH and the school sh. Hollosi Munich, then in Paris. From 1905 he worked as a cartoonist in satiric. well. "Bugbear," "Hell-mail", etc. ed s. Founder (together. with S. J. Kopelman) and hands. Izd-VA "Eglantine" (1906-18). 1917-18 head. office gas. "New era", in 1918-19, one of the hands. (with M. Gorky, A. Tikhonov, I. Ladyzhnikov) Izd-VA "world literature" in Petrograd. In 1919-23 owner "Izd-VA zi grzhebina" (Berlin – Petrograd - Moscow), went bankrupt because of disagreements and conflicts with the state publishing house and the office of the "international book", financial difficulties and ill emigre circles. From 1921 he lived in Berlin from 1924 in Paris, died in poverty.
