Honored artist of Russia, Honored worker of arts M. A. Matorin was born on 30 Sep 1905 in Moscow in the family working. He graduated from city College (1913-1917), a school for working youth (1919-1921), art Studio Krasnopresnensky district of Moscow (1922-1925), where he studied under the guidance of renowned artists such as N. M. Grigoriev, A. V. Shevchenko. Then he entered the Moscow state College of fine art in memory of the uprising of 1905. In 1930 M. Matorin joins the members of the MKO, where the fate of his drives with A. Kuprin, I. Mashkov, A. Lentulov, R. Falk, A. Osmerkin and P. Konchalovsky. Talked a lot with A. Kuprin, lived and worked at his dacha in Gurzuf. A special friendship has developed with family by P. Konchalovsky, particularly his son Michael Konchalovsky. Being the same age, they were friends all his life, until his last days. Matorin had high demands on himself that made him, already the acknowledged master, enroll in 1936 at the Department for advanced training of painters in the Moscow Institute of fine arts (1937 - Moscow art Institute), reports the Russian Museums.

In 1941, Mikhail Arsentievich was entrusted with responsible state order evacuation of art treasures of the Tretyakov gallery. The government directed on preservation of the national heritage most experienced, people of uncompromising integrity. No painting, printmaking, sculpture is not lost. For this he was awarded the medal "For participation in the heroic defense of Moscow" medal "For valiant and selfless work during the great Patriotic war of 1941-1945". About 40 years M. His paintings are always distinguished creative personality. Even in the prewar years, in a picturesque Moscow on Matrine it said, "the painter of God's mercy." Since these words are inseparably accompanied him in life and work. His artistic talent reaches its climax in the still lifes that evoke the impression of living matter, appearing in an endless variety of color, almost tangible plastic objects. His still lifes are composed of the simplest of items, which speaks the reverence of the artist in front of ever-living nature. A special place in his work is landscapes, which are dominated by the subtle colour gradations and a special romanticism. In 1999 Matorin was awarded the Grand gold medal of Academy of arts of Russia.

The exhibition presents works of different years - from the early 20-ies of XX century to the late twentieth century. Michael arsentevich continued to work until the last days of his life, remaining always deeply devoted to art. His first work was written in 1919 and the last in 2000

In 1913-1917, he studied at the city College, and from 1919 to 1921 at the school for working youth. In the early years showed a propensity for artistic creation, initially was keen on copying the paintings of Ivan Aivazovsky.

In the 1922-1925 years engaged in art Studio of Krasnopresnensky district of Moscow, the founder of which was N. M.Grigoriev.

From 1925 to 1930, studying at the Moscow state College of fine art in Memory of the uprising in 1905 under the leadership of M. K. Sokolov, I. P. Chetverikova, etc. Enjoys the creativity of such artists as Chardin, Cezanne, Rembrandt, Konstantin Korovin, Isaac Levitan.

In 1930, entered the Society of Moscow artists (MKO), is moving closer to A. V. Kuprin and p. P. Konchalovsky.

In 1932 became a member of Moscow Union of artists, which immediately falls into the orbit of attention of such masters as F. S. bogorodskii, p. P. Sokolov-Skal, G. G. ryazhskiy, p. P. Konchalovsky, A. Lentulov, S. V. Gerasimov, V. N. Baksheev, K. F. Yuon.

In 1933, for the first time participated in the major exhibition "Artists of the RSFSR XV years".

From 1936 to 1939 a student in the Department of advanced training of painters at the Moscow Institute of fine arts named V. I. Surikov. At this time already clearly traced in its scenic conception, when primary importance is attached to the color task, and not the plot diversity.

In 1941, directed by Mosh to work for the evacuation of art treasures of the State Tretyakov gallery. And From 1944 to 1949 he teaches in a variety of secondary art schools of Moscow, later teaching such famous Russian artists as A. Tutunov, I. Savenkova, I. Sorokin, O. Savostyuk, M. Ivanov and others.

In 1958, together with A. V. Kuprin makes very fruitful in the creative respect the trip to the Crimea, makes numerous subtly coloristic landscapes, begins to paint still lifes.

1970 - beginning of 1980-ies is marked in the artist creating the typical still-life painting. These still lifes marked a unique combination of impressionistic vitality in the transmission seen with bright decorative richness of colour. This time for pictures matorina become an integral richness of texture, the dramatic tension of the color plastics, romantic elation and diversity in the perception of simple natural motive.

In 1989 Matorin was awarded First prize by the Union of artists for the best picture of the year.

Since 1991, actively collaborates with the French-Russian gallery "LES OREADES", repeatedly exhibited at numerous exhibitions in Moscow and abroad (France, Switzerland, Germany).

In 1995, the gallery "LES OREADES" arranges the artist's personal exhibition in Moscow.

A little later he became a National artist of Russia. At the end of 2000 in the halls of the State Tretyakov gallery is a new solo exhibition Matorin.

M. A. Matorin died in the summer of 2002 in Moscow.

In the present work M. A. Matorin is in major Museum collections in Russia (in the Tretyakov gallery, the Russian Museum etc.), as well as in numerous private collections in Russia and abroad.
