Stepanovich Melikhov

Soviet painter, folk artist of the Ukrainian SSR (1967). Winner of the USSR State Prize.

He studied at the Kiev Art Institute (1935-41) with P. G. Volokidin, F. G. Krichevsky. He taught there (1945-61; professor from 1960). Secretary of the Union of Artists of the USSR (1956-60). Melikhov is characterized by a striving for psychological persuasion of a detailed genre scene ("Young Taras Shevchenko in the workshop of K. P. Bryullov", 1947, Museum of Ukrainian Fine Arts of the Ukrainian SSR, Kiev, USSR State Prize, 1948; " ", 1957, Gorlovka Art Museum;" Delegates of the I Congress of the CP (b) of Ukraine in Moscow ", 1969, property of the Ministry of Culture of the Ukrainian SSR). Awarded the Order of the Red Banner of Labor and medals.
