In 1950 he graduated from the Leningrad Institute of painting, sculpture and architecture named after I. E. Repin in the Studio of B. V. Ioganson. On his development as a painter was influenced by teacher and mentor, A. D. Zaitsev (at that time rector of the Institute).

In 1951 started the exhibition activity of the artist. In 1957 he joined the Union of Artists of the USSR.

Bright representative of the Leningrad school of painting post-war years. Showed himself as an original painter, palette which was characterized by the depth and richness of color.

Solo exhibition was held in 1989 in Leningrad.

Works are in museums and private collections in Russia.
