Igor Obrosov is the greatest master of our time, a painter and a graphic artist.

His work appeared at exhibitions in the 1950s - early. 1960s, when "severe style" was born in art and the main thing for artists was the image of the truth of life.

It was then that Obrosov turned to the peasant theme, the image of the Russian village, which goes through all the artist’s work. He drew his inspiration from nature and people living on the Vologda, Tver, Yaroslavl lands.

Many of Obrosov's works are devoted to the tragic period of Russian history - the Stalinist repressions.

This theme is deeply personal for the artist - in 1937 his father was arrested and shot - Pavel Nikolayevich Obrosov, a famous surgeon, professor, director of the Institute. N.V. Sklifosovsky.

These works go beyond family memories; they reflect the tragic fate of a generation of compatriots. Piercing sincerity is distinguished by strict asceticism paintings, built on the contrasts of black and white, symbolically separating life and death, good and evil, fidelity and betrayal.

The artist's works are in the State Tretyakov Gallery, the State Russian Museum, and in the Russian Academy of Arts.
