He studied at the theater and decoration department of the Moscow Regional Art College in memory of 1905 under V. Shestakov and L. Fedorov (1951-1956).
In 1957, he participated in exhibitions of young artists at the Academy of Arts and in the Central Park of Art and Culture named after A.M. Gorky, held as part of the VI World Festival of Youth and Students. There he met future nonconformists Zverev, A.V. Kharitonov, M. Kulakov and was strongly influenced by the American abstractionist Coleman. Since the late 1950s became one of the organizers of the non-conformist art movement. Exhibited at apartment exhibitions. In 1962, J.P. P visited the Plavinsky workshop. Sartre. He participated in the first exhibition of unofficial art in the beekeeping pavilion of VDNH in 1975. Since 1991, he lives and works in New York.
The artist's works are in the State Tretyakov Gallery, the Museum of Modern Art of Russia, in the Jane Voorhees Zimmerli Art Museum (New Jersey, the USA), in many collections in Russia and abroad.
