(R. 14.2.1930, Kiev), Soviet painter, graphic artist, honored worker of arts of the USSR (1968). He studied at the Kiev art Institute (1948-54). The author of many book illustrations, characterized by the desire for succinct, summarizing, and emotional and psychological disclosure of images of literary works. From linocuts, built on the contrast of black and white, reveals the spatial depth and volume of objects (illustrations for the story Kotsyubinsky "Fata Morgana", 1957), J. went on to two-dimensional, decorative compositions: refinement of line and stroke are different his woodcuts (illustrations for the story Kotsyubinsky "shadows of forgotten ancestors", 1965-66). Also works in etchings (illustrations to the story I. Franke "Zahar Berkut", 1972, a series of "Hutsul", 1972), takes the sketches for film posters.

In the 1960s J. illustrates the Poker drama "Yaroslav the Wise", in 1970-1980s — "the Tale of bygone years" (Kiev, 1982, 1989). 1977 to J. prepares for Izd-VA "Dnipro" publishing house. C. under the editorship of V. V. Nimchuk, consisting of two books; one drevnerus. the text, drawn by A. P. Vidhanam; in the other — per. P. in Ukrainian. (M. Rylsky), Rus. (N. Rylenkova) and Belarusian. (Kupala) lang. In the book drevnerus. text a few small prints the type of the frames in the open field and a narrow savers (facilitate this foot in the stirrup, the three Prince in the circles medallions, etc.). Read more illustrated book with three translations: in addition to headpieces and frames tint. plot prints in sheet (Boyan with a gusli, in the circle before each transfer;. — Igor on horseback, Bui Tour Vsevolod, shooting archery, Svyatoslav with the sword; Yaroslavna, etc.). Here are multilayered composition, with smaller images, some in circles or ovals, other in the form of friezes: the princes of warriors, trumpeting heralds, birds, animals; the capture of Igor's captivity, battle, meeting Igor and Yaroslavna
(the story image is a secondary position). Prints-tie-as if quoting fragments multi-row compositions. This ed. it was repeated in 1982 and 1985, however, less successful with tinted engravings. A special place belongs to ed. C. in the transposition of V. Shevchuk, designed for Ya. Izd-VA "Veselka" (Kyiv, 1982). It's a thin book, stretched vertically in a soft cardboard cover with dust jacket. The artist rendered the content of C. the most detail. His engravings are large format; both large-scale and multi-row. J. uses a dashed style, tinted, introduces red paint. In a turn of the dominated space. the scenery, the motif of battle, penetrates into the dark disk of the sun. These Fig. Ya have earned the glory of an artist and a thinker.
