1896 Studies in private engraving workshop in Munich.
1897-1898 Studies in the Studio of fortesta V. Unger, Vienna.
1899 he Visited Paris and Rome.
1899-1919 Lives in Saint-Petersburg — Petrograd, then in Riga. Illustrates and designs books, makes drawings for magazines, posters, paintings for postage stamps, invitation cards.
1918 the author of the first series of Soviet stamps "Liberation of Russia". One of the first Latvian artists exlibrises. Played mostly etchings (mostly on folk and historical themes), also drawings, coloured lithographs, watercolors.
1919-1936 Teaches at the art Academy of Latvia.
1934, Approved the rank of Professor.
Died 1939 in Riga.
