The choice of life Shestakova have been associated with influence and meetings with the great countryman, Vasily Ivanovich Surikov. Already in 1905 Shestakov worked with the students of the drawing school, organized by the Association of Krasnoyarsk artists. Then there was Munich, St. Petersburg-Petrograd, Perm, Novosibirsk, Krasnoyarsk again.

The last decade creative and public activities of Andrey Shestakov was the most intense. He was one of the organizers of the Association of artists of the region and the first Chairman of the Krasnoyarsk branch of Union of artists (1939). With his active participation resumed drawing school (classes which ceased in 1919), where he was Professor and head of which was until 1939. At the initiative of Shestakova in 1936 in Krasnoyarsk, opened the first exhibition of children's drawings.

During this period, residence of the Shestakov family had a room in the house Surikov. And the last refuge of it was the Troitsk cemetery of Krasnoyarsk, where in obscurity for all coming here is a nameless hill with a discreet likeness of the monument, where lovers of recyclables removed metal plaque with the inscription: "Here buried alive Andrew S., died July 1, 1941, 60 years old".

This year the Board of the Krasnoyarsk regional organization vtoo "Union of artists of Russia" is preparing for the 60th anniversary. In the beginning of the year the author of the open letter addressed to the Chairman of the Board of S. E. Anufrieva with a proposal to perpetuate the memory of A. S. Shestakova, but to no avail.

Love Shapovalov is convinced that Andrey Shestakov should become an Honorary citizen of the city of Krasnoyarsk. You should also install a plaque on one of the buildings in the Central part of the city, where he worked as a drawing teacher and artist. On the grave Shestakova should be a monument worthy of his artistic and civic achievement.

I want to believe that the appeal of art will not remain a voice crying in the wilderness, and will be heard and the mayor of Krasnoyarsk by the public, and the Union of artists.
