Biography and information

The life path of the artist - Felix Khodorovich was started almost the same way as Boleslaw Azovskogo. Felix Khodorovich, a student at the Moscow School of painting, sculpture and architecture (studied in 1860-63), was expelled for his involvement in the Polish uprising of 1863. He was exiled to the Caucasus to serve in the army. Thus, in 1864, his life has been forever linked with Georgia. After military service he settled in Tiflis. During his life he traveled around Georgia, carefully studied the character, manners, customs, and utensils of the peoples inhabiting the Caucasus. Having collected extensive material, he began creating portraits and genre sculptures.

In 1886 in the St. Petersburg journal Art news 1886, N4 was reported: ...living in Tiflis sculptor F. Khodorovich decided to create a collection of the Caucasian types, to show at the world exhibition in 1889, this collection was to consist of 30 of 30 busts and genre groups. It is unknown whether he managed to carry out his plan, but we know that small genre scenes, which he exhibited, was highly appreciated by his contemporaries. Khodorovich was a famous teacher of drawing and sculpture. Since 1870 he taught in the I gymnasium.
