Born in the village Golyshmanovo Tyumen region. In the years 1955-1961 he studied at the Palekh art school. Teachers - T. V. Bondarenko, N. F.Vikhrev. In 1961-1964, he worked as an artist-decorator in the Donbas and Bratsk. In 1972-1982, he worked at the Kholui factory of lacquer miniature. Since 1983 worked at the Palekh art-production workshops.
Themes of works: folklore, genre scenes. Participant of exhibitions since 1972.
V. A. babakina are stored in museums: the State Museum of Palekh art, the Ivanovo regional art Museum.
