Vasilyevich Poltavets

Born in the village of Polohy (now city flat) in Zaporizhia region.

The first teacher after V. Poltavets in the specialty was the famous painter A. Kokel. For further study chooses the workshop battle painting M. Deregus. Viktor Poltavets successfully complete the Institute (1944-1950),

The young artist teaches at the Kharkiv art College, and later worked in the Studio of.Grekova in Moscow, has successfully exhibited at the Republican and all-Union exhibitions, wins the competition of the political poster – and as a result receives an invitation to Kiev for editorial work in the publishing house "mistetstvo".

In 1958, receives prestigious international award for illustration to the novel by A. Serafimovich "the Iron flood."

In the early 1960-ies Viktor heads the art Department of the publishing house of children's literature "Veselka". Parallel to the graphic and editorial work productively working in painting. He exhibited almost all the Republican and all-Union exhibitions. The artist's works fall into different museums of Ukraine and abroad: national art Museum of Ukraine, museums of regional centers of Ukraine, the State Tretyakov gallery, private collections in Western Europe, USA, Canada, Japan. The artist was awarded the title people's artist of Ukraine.
