AUTOBIOGRAPHY
I was born in Tbilisi in 1922, in the family servant. Drawing started in early childhood. In our family, starting with my grandfather, Afanasii Ivanovich ULYANOV, my mother and her brothers all studied painting. And grandfather knew many artists who lived and worked at that time in Tbilisi, were in close relationship with the artist ZANKOVSKAYA. My uncle, ULYANOV Andrey Kostenko graduated from the Studio of the Mose Toidze. I was in the center of their attention. My childhood drawings are very encouraged, they were collected (part of the surviving drawings is kept still).
Then - school years. All the design works in the school took an active part. Namely, decorations for school plays, Newspapers, posters.
Further, being a high school student, I was an ardent member of the Republican competitions in GIM-nastika from society "PISHEVIK". In addition, my hobby was engineering, I've visited the radio club of the city.
But doing art I have always been in the foreground.
In those years I have been a member of the Cabinet of artistic education of children under Department of education, the initiator and the head of which was everyone's favorite artist POTAPOV Leonid Nikolayevich, a born teacher, a constant fan of realistic art.
Through his hands passed a lot of talented young men, some of whom later became great artists.
All my plans and dreams for the future were interrupted by a sudden war in 1941. I was drafted into the Red Army at the age of 19 years. I with honors I graduated from the Tbilisi infantry school and a young officer was sent to the front in the summer of 1942.
Only in 1946, after returning to his home in Tbilisi, I was able again to continue the dream of becoming an artist. But it was not so easy. The family circumstances of the postwar years was not conducive to my admission to the Tbilisi Academy of arts. There was only one way out - persistent and persistent work on yourself. Theory, practice and work for material equilibrium.
Was a favorable environment for the development of my method III. The beauty of the landscape of Georgia, its ancient historical monuments, urban landscape, I loved since childhood. Independent life and creative activity I started in 1947, when I went to work in the Central House of culture of Georgia artist designer, where he worked until 1958. During this period I have done a huge and varied work. I received 10 performances. The practice was held in the Opera house and the theatre Marjanishvili under the guidance of experienced decorators. Along with the main work and creativity did a lot of community work imposed the Kirov district party Committee Tbilisi, on the design of the district as a whole, but also in festive decoration of the area, columns and vehicles for demonstrations, festivals of the district, making scenes for various activities, writing, portraits, banners, etc.
In the culture I was a member of the circle of fine arts, where it was headed, former Chairman of the Union of artists of Georgia Shalva MAMALADZE. In that time I have received 7 letters of commendation and one letter of commendation from the Minister of culture of the USSR, several times I was marked in the press.
Many times seconded to the cities of the country to explore the museums and exhibitions of artists.
In 1951 in the House of culture held my first solo exhibition of watercolors.
In 1952 he participated in the I Republican exhibition of creativity of workers and employees in Tbilisi.
In 1954, took part in the first all-Union exhibition of workers and employees in Moscow, where he was seconded by the delegate from Georgia. In the same year was admitted a member of the section of young artists of Georgia to the Union of artists of the USSR.
In 1957 - participant of exhibition of young artists of Georgia.
In 1958, my second solo exhibition at the artists ' club, which presented works made with watercolor and oil.
After the exhibition I was accepted as a candidate member of the Union of artists of the USSR on the recommendations of the honored worker of arts of the USSR, Hero of Socialist labor Lado GUDIASHVILI, the honored worker of arts of Georgia I. VEPKHVADZE, Professor of the Tbilisi Academy of arts V. JAPARIDZE. After a second solo exhibition, in 1960, I become a member of the geographical society of Georgia, which acquired 30 of my works.
Since 1964, I am a member of the Union of artists and the Art Fund of the USSR.
After joining the Union of artists of the USSR, I do a lot of intensive work involved in many exhibitions.
My work is available in 10 museums in Georgia, Russia, 3 works are in the Museum of the city of Sumy, in an art gallery in Leipzig in Germany, but also in Vietnam, Czechoslovakia, India, Israel, Greece, private collections in Saint-Petersburg, Tver, Tambov, Lvov, Tbilisi.
I am a regular participant of all-Union art lottery, where accepted my work.
Before 1972, the press often published articles about my art works and reproductions (of the newspaper "Zarya Vostoka", "Lenin's Banner").
A huge benefit to my work brought a personal acquaintance with many famous artists of the USSR President of the USSR Academy of arts GERASIMOV, member of the USSR Union of artists, Ukrainian artist, honored art worker of the Ukrainian SSR semen HUECKEL and their work.
