Biography and information
Kugelgen (von Kügelgen) Gerhardt, Franz von (1772-1820)
German painter, historical painter and portraitist. His twin brother Carl was also a landscape artist. The brothers received education in Rome. In 1798 invited by the Emperor Paul in St. Petersburg for the posts of court painters. In 1805 Gerhard moved to Dresden in 1814 became Professor at Dresden Academy.
