In 1936 enrolled in the art Studio of the all that was on Preobrazhenskaya square in Moscow (supervisor L. O. Chetyrkin, teachers of K. F. Yuon, S. V. Gerasimov).
In 1937, on the recommendation of I. E. Grabar enrolled in the second year of the Moscow State Art Institute. VI Surikov in the Studio of S. V. Gerasimov. In 1942 he graduated with honors from the Institute for the thesis "Commissioning of cattle for the red Army".
The General Rychagova Sergey became known to a wide audience in 1946 the all-Union art exhibition, where were presented the work "the Return was" and "Native fields".
Personal exhibition was held in 1977 in Moscow.
Works are in State Tretyakov Gallery, Tver art gallery.
