Born in Uman, now in Cherkasy oblast. Attended the private art school of M. Spring in Kiev, then – in the Odessa art school (1935 – 1938), the Leningrad Academy of arts (1938 – 1939) and KHI (1939 – 1941). In Kiev becomes a famous artist of theatre and cinema. During the war, was taken prisoner. In 1950 he moved to USA, where he studied architecture and parallel taught drawing, composition and painting in her own Studio and art Center in Minneapolis. Wrote mainly landscapes and still lifes. A large series of landscapes devoted to the old settlements of Ukrainians-immigrants. In 1991 and 1994, he held a solo exhibition at namu and "heritage Museum" in Kiev.
