Edward
Veit

1858−1925

Austrian artist, landscape painter and portraitist, style: Art Nouveau. Born March 30, 1858 (Novi Jicin, Moravia) in the family decorator Julius Feith (1820-1887) and Susanna, née Schlieff (1827-1883). He was a student of Ferdinand Lofberger, he completed his education in Paris. I made field trips to Italy, Belgium and Tunisia.

1890 Veit became a member of the Viennese Künstlerhaus, later he taught at the School of Decorative and Applied Arts of the Austrian Museum of Art and Industry and in 1920 became a regular professor.

In 1911 he married Berthe Griesbek (1872-1952)

He was buried at Debling Cemetery (site 32, row 1, No. 11), the tombstone was made by sculptor Georg Leysek.

I want to say a little about his work, I was amazed by the elegant skill of Fayt. A special place in my soul is the painting Königstochter (the royal daughter) in 1898, harmony and symmetry are attractive.

The artist's signature on many pictures merges and in a peculiar way complements the composition of the scenes.
