Anthony Cragg

The Wooson Gallery in South Korea hosts an exhibition by the British artist Anthony Cragg, one of the most original and innovative sculptors living today. The exhibition presents typical examples from each period of the artist’s forty-year career, as a sculptor rethought and transformed such aspects of sculpture as content, mass, negative space, material, color and scale. Each of the works that he brought to the world of forms has its roots and close connection with emotions. The sculptures are made of various materials, such as bronze, steel and fiberglass.
Anthony Cragg was born in 1949 in Liverpool. He worked as a laboratory assistant, and then began to study art at the Gloucestershire College of Art, the Wimbledon School of Art and the Royal College of Art. He has exhibited in many cities and art institutions since the 1970s. He was awarded the prestigious Turner Prize in 1988 and represented the UK at the 43rd Venice Biennale that same year. Lives and works in Wuppertal, Germany, since 1977.
